Memorial Cup 2022 & Season Recap

by Joseph Petrizzo

As our 2022 season comes to a close we would like to take the time to thank everyone who made our first year so great.   First we would like to thank all of the team managers and captains for entering teams.  We know how difficult it is to organize a team and deal with travel, finances, etc.  Team managers are the core that keep tournament roller hockey alive.  Next we would like to thank all of the players and their families that came out to the events.   You have all been so great and kind.  You all make the events what they are.   It is a community of people that love the sport and at the rink it's mostly smiles.   We love hearing that people had a good time because that tells us that there are people out there that care about the sport as much as we do.  And last but not least we would like to thank all of the companies that worked with us this year.

Now let get into the Memorial Cup.   The mens division was our biggest of the weekend with 8 teams.  We would also like to do a special shoutout to the ISCA Grizzlies, TNH Dead Presidents and of coarse the Trash Pandas who all made the trip from Jersey.  The Pandas were involved in this weekends only two overtime games.   One going their way and one goin in favor of the Brazzers.   In the Mens final we had the Brazzers vs the East End Blaze.  The Blaze came out on top in this one with a 5-2 victory.

In the 30 and over final we had the Impact and DWO.  DWO assembled pretty much a full pro team but Impact had quite the roster as well.   DWO took the title.

And now for the pro division.   The Goofers surprised everyone and went undefeated on the weekend including the championship game against Black Ice.  The Goofers took home the title and $1000.   Black Ice did not go home empty handed because they won the season total for the 2022 cumulative points standings.  So Black Ice also received $1000.

We hope that everyone had a great time and made some memories.  Next year we will do our best to expand to other regions and bring bigger and better tournaments to a rink near you.

Thanks,

PRHA Staff
